How to cook indian style mutton curry

 Ingredients:

  • 1 kg mutton (goat meat), cut into pieces
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  • 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker or a heavy-bottomed pot on medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few seconds.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  5. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add the mutton pieces and stir well to coat with the spice mixture. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the mutton pieces are browned.
  7. Add enough water to cover the mutton pieces and mix well. Adjust salt and spice levels as required.
  8. Cover the pressure cooker or pot and cook for 6-7 whistles on high heat or until the mutton is tender. If using a pot, simmer on low heat for 1-2 hours until the mutton is tender and cooked through.
  9. Once done, switch off the flame and let the pressure release naturally.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
