How to cook indian style mutton curry
Ingredients:
- 1 kg mutton (goat meat), cut into pieces
- 4 tbsp oil
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 3 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Salt to taste
- Water as required
- 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker or a heavy-bottomed pot on medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the mutton pieces and stir well to coat with the spice mixture. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the mutton pieces are browned.
- Add enough water to cover the mutton pieces and mix well. Adjust salt and spice levels as required.
- Cover the pressure cooker or pot and cook for 6-7 whistles on high heat or until the mutton is tender. If using a pot, simmer on low heat for 1-2 hours until the mutton is tender and cooked through.
- Once done, switch off the flame and let the pressure release naturally.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
