How to cook pasta at home with white sauce
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. pasta (such as spaghetti or fettuccine)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a separate pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the flour and whisk until smooth. Cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
- Gradually whisk in the milk until the sauce is smooth.
- Cook the sauce, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until melted.
- Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss until the pasta is coated in the sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
