Lasagna Recipe best italian dish
Ingredients:
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 pound (450g) Italian sausage
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for added heat)
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onions are softened. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer the sauce for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to allow the flavors to meld.
In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and chopped parsley. Mix well.
To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles on top, followed by a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture, a layer of mozzarella cheese, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and a generous amount of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 25 minutes or until the lasagna is hot and bubbly and the cheese is golden brown.
Once the lasagna is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving. This allows it to set and makes it easier to cut into neat portions.
